Education


  • graduated in 1955 from the Zagreb Academy of Music, where he studied music theory and history, also minoring in composition with Milo Cipra and organ with Franjo Lučić
  • he continued his studies of organ with Anton Nowakowski in Salzburg (1959-1960)
  • he continuied his studies of composition with André Jolivet in Paris (1965-1966)

  • About the Author

    Since 1952, when he performed his Passacaglia for organ, Mr. Klobučar has figured prominently in Croatian musical life, both as a composer and a performer, with great enthusiasm and equally great success. He is the author of a vast opus of symphonic, concertante, organ, vocal and vocal - instrumental music, as well as film music. His "Papal Mass" written for the 900th anniversary of the Zagreb Archiepiscopate, and was given its premiere on 11 September 1994, on the occasion of Pope John Paul II9s first visit to Zagreb. His repertiore also included works by many other composers and many musical styles. He has been especially active in promoting the works of Olivier Messiaen in Croatia. Besides his own compositions, Mr. Klobučar frequently performs pieces by his contemporaries Natko Devčić, Stjepan Šulek, Boris Papandopulo, Marko Ruždjak, Frano Parać and many others.
