Cantus welcomes you to the Saturday night concert by the Ensemble Variances
Entering the 15th year of their active role on the artistic scene, as a part of the 70th anniversary of the Croatian Composers’ Society, the Cantus Ensemble decided to host one of the most prominent ensembles on the French music scene, thus contributing to the contemporary aspect of the music programme of the Festival Rendez-vous.
With their concert programme at the Theatre &TD, the Ensemble Variances will give a showcase of French contemporary music, giving a special attention to the spectral music, an esthetic that was introduced and articulated by composers such as Gérard Grisey andTristan Murail, and that has its roots among the French composers.
The diversity of this approach will be reflected in the pieces by Tristan Murail, Marc-André Dalbavie, Gérard Grisey, Régis Campo, Luciano Berio and Thierry Pécou, the artistic leader of the ensemble.
One of the strongest characteristics of this ensemble is the constant collaboration with a number of international composers, institutions and ensembles and this invitation from the Cantus Ensemble at the same time serves as an opportunity for a start of a common project of the two ensembles and another step forward of the Croatian contemporary music composers, their interprets and a step towards scenes and audiences so far not explored by the Croatian musicians.
Along with visiting the concert, the audience has an opportunity to see the multimedia exhibition dedicated to Pierre Boulez, just next to the concert venue, at the lobby of the Cinema SC (free entrance).
We are looking forward to a new collaboration and happily welcome you to the Saturday night hangout and the concert at the Teatar &TD (Savska cesta 25) at 8 pm!
The concert is held as a part of the manifestation Festival of France in Croatia, Rendez-vous.
